SCHOOL DROP-OUTS
Bidell (2014) examines the psychological distress that comes the consequences of LGBTQ youth having to leave school. The research found that out of the 89 homeless queer youth surveyed, 39% dropped out in either middle school or high school while the rest later went on to obtain their GED.
The action of dropping out of school, further places social discrimination in the sense that if they never leave the homeless cycle, it will be harder and harder for them to obtain housing or employment.
