PUBLIC POLICY AND ORGANIZATIONS

Because young adults without children aren’t eligible for many of the welfare services provided in the United States, it is up to campaigns such as the Human Rights Campaign to advocate for the agencies that are providing aid.

The HRC is the largest national queer civil rights organization and ensure LGBTQ identified folks their basic equal rights in community and safety (2018). Specifically, HRC is also committed to spreading awareness through public education and public policy about LGBTQ homeless youth. HRC promotes legislation at state and local level to protect queer youth.

The Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) funds street outreach, basic centers, and transitional living programs for runaway and homeless youth.

All Children - All Families Project is a foundation that works with child welfare agencies that are both public and private to help improve services for LGBTQ youth and families nationwide.

Nation, state and local outreach programs are important in raising awareness of the possibility of our queer youth becoming homeless. Community based programs spread education for preventative measures to start from the family.
