COMMUNITY SUPPORT

An important aspect to create change within this demographic is community and family rebuilding. Some of the agencies I have mentioned not only support youth in social support, but they provide them with the tool for possibility of family renegotiations.

Los Angeles LGBT Center (2018) reports how family ties among young adults can exert a powerful influence on the renegotiations of family. It is understood that well-being and family relationships are a big factor in emotional distress in these teens.

Larkin Street Services (2018) uses community dynamic approaches when aiding to LGBTQ homeless youth. They pride themselves in the amount of education and employment opportunities they have available. These resources are also responsible for putting a dent in the stigma of LGBTQ youth by reaching out to the community and asking for duel development.

A community based program is important because it gives youth the hope that their whole lives may not always consist of discrimination and doors being shut in their face.
